Day 26. Hola Barcelona!

This morning we decided to do the free walking tour in Barcelona. We met a few Canadians and a Kiwi in our hostel that were also heading to the tour, so we all went together.

The walking tour of Barcelona wasn’t as good as the Amsterdam or Berlin ones, but we’re not sure if that’s because of the city’s history or our annoying tour guide in Spain! Haha!

Either way, Barcelona is a beautiful city and it was nice to walk around thegothic neighborhoods of the city. The guide also took us by some of the most amazing churches and cathedrals around the city.

After the tour was over we were starving and more than ready for some more Spanish food!

We found a nice old square hidden away in the small streets with a few outdoor restaurants. There were three guys playing guitar and singing, and the weather was beautiful! Perfect!

We ate at a place that had four tapas dishes for €15 plus a beer or wine. I ordered mussels, calamari, chorizo and chicken and a beer. It was gorgeous (like all the food here!)

As usual in a city with a beach, we ended up walking down there again to relax for the rest of the afternoon.

After an hour or so at the beach we wandered back to the Main Street ‘La Rambla’ in Barcelona. If you’ve never been, it’s a long cobbled street with lots of tapa restaurants, shops and tourists!

We stopped at some of the outdoor seating and ordered a huge hug of sangria each. Everyone was drinking them with huge straws so we knew what we wanted!

After an hour of drinking, people watching and relaxing, we got the bill…only to find out the sangria’s were nearly €20 each!! Haha! There was about four drinks in each jug, but we were definitely surprised. It was worth it though.

Our next mission was to find somewhere to eat. So we tipsily strolled through the streets until we were drawn to an ‘All You Can Eat Tapas for €15.’

As you can imagine this suited us! We ate absolutely loads of tapas, enjoyed the free sangria, paella and dessert that came with it too. We were stuffed.

Eventually we made our way back to the hostel. It was so sad as it was the last night of our trip. The three weeks has been perfect, not gone by too fast or felt too long. But it’s definitely crazy that it’s our last night.

I’ll be sad to go.

Chat tomorrow,
