Day Eight. The Final Day.

Last night was spent with great friends and family. We chatted over dinner at home (made by Mum, thanks!) and we headed into town for some more drinks and dancing.

Despite the lack of people around, we danced the night away in concrete before finishing the night with some cheese, chips and gravy. I value the short amount of time I get to spend with my closest family and friends, because it doesn’t happen that often!

This morning we grabbed some brunch in town to save our looming hangovers. By noon, my friends Eleanor and Lauren had headed home. Hailey and I used the rest of the afternoon to organise our backpacks and print off any tickets, bookings and itinerarys.

My Mum and Dad treated Hailey and I to dinner at a Greek restaurant in Carlisle. So even though we won’t be making it to Greece on our travels, we experienced a very traditional Greek meal before we left!

We said our final goodbyes to family and friends as we’ll be getting the train to London at 8:00am tomorrow morning.

Our retro green and purple backpacks are packed up and ready to go. I was actually pleasantly surprised that all my stuff fit comfortably into the backpack and day sack I’m taking for the month! And, it’s not actually as heavy as I expected.

I can’t believe I’ve been counting this trip down for months and we’re starting the second part of the journey tomorrow. The part where we’re actually alone. I don’t think it’s really sunk in yet, but I’m just going with it and enjoying every minute.

Chat tomorrow,
Hannah x
